How did you made the sabot of n4? I mean how did you cut them in the middle? Also how did you heat treated the steel?

Have you got my package yet? Don't know how fast they ship the stuff, but I think it should've reached epoxyland by now

In a very amateur way, heated until red hot and then thrown into a bucket of water

Not yet :-/ did you send it by registered mail?

Thought so. Damn so many things I need and so few money

Does the same heat treatment harden a steel wire which I'm trying to make springs of and give it the flexibility?

The list of accessories never ends... but in this case, since it's for a sabot, you can just cut it with a hacksaw

or use a very small diameter end mill to slit it.

EVERYTHING you need to know about making springs:

Looks nice, but do you ever clean your tools?

Nope, just the cheapest option.. Maybe the sharp stuff looked a bit suspicious

Just throwing red hot steel wire to a bucket of water isn't going to get you anywhere near a spring, you need the right type of carbon steel, and a special way of heat treating the stuff to get you even near the results your looking for. Even the quenching temperature matters with these special steels. And were not even talking about these grades of steel you could use for this.

.. AAND continuing here (Lab wanted me to change to my own account)
Propably what you have is the cheapest crap someone may sell for you. And i know your still going to try it and come crying to us because it didn“t work at all. As i have seen how you use your tools, and in the name of natural selection, id say go for it!

Well thanks Jake

tough word. Cut my hand with a saw, well yes, I was distracted. Now don't exaggerate, I won't come here crying to you. And I also know I haven't give my tools a good use yet and done nothing impressive, but I don't need you to tell me I suck and I won't give a f*ck if you do. I was once ruthless on this forum and I apologize for that, but I see I should defend myself right now. I know you know a lot about metals and knifes, I respect that and I thought you were a great person, so sorry if I just tried to find a way to make some springs as I haven't find them been sold. Yes I do buy the cheapest stuff if it will work because founds has always been a problem.

Maybe try piano wire, just the material you're looking after.
(at least when you're not looking after coiled ones)
And try fapping with your right hand, it's pretty good for the blood flow, and thus healing your hand faster

Well I bet you and Jake have been laughing in my back for a while... I have been told about piano wires, maybe I give it a try.
