On my piston valve barrel sealer that im making, I have about Hlaf a inch of room between the barrel and the piston, when the pisoton is unsealed from the barrel letting air into the barrel. Is that to much or to little?
Valve Specs:
1 1/2" Tee
3/4 Barrel
1/16 inlet
Piston to barrel spaceing

What size is the barrel? What size T is the valve housed in? What size is the air inlet from the chamber?
Look around, there's a simple formula to tell you the exact correct space. But we need the dimensions of the valve first to be able to help you.
Peace,
Pete Zaria.

Inlet and pilot are two different things, and a 1/16th" inlet would NOT work so I assume the 1/16th number is for your pilot.
I assume your inlet is also 3/4"? Or is it bigger?
Peace,
Pete Zaria.

You might try searching on the term "piston travel", I found this right away:
http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/enough- ... t9789.html
Looks like 1/4 to 1/2 of the diameter of the barrel seems to be the consensus from the few links I tried. Anything over that would probably be overkill anyway.
Peace,
Pete Zaria.

ok my pilot is 1/16th and my chamber is going to be a 2" diameter 35" long. I am going to use a reducer bushing on the Chamber so It will fit into the Tee

CannonCreator, you're not quite getting this... a piston valve has 3 "holes" in it -
Inlet, this is where air comes from the chamber into the valve
Exhaust - this is where air leaves the chamber/valve into the barrel (you said yours is 3/4")
Pilot - this is the hole you pilot the piston through (you said yours is 1/16th" which might be too small actually...)
How big is the inlet going to be? :-p
Either way, research it as I suggested above.
Peace,
Pete Zaria.
