Epoxying Brass

Hey guys,

I don't have the propper gear to sodler brass so would Araldite Epoxy hold brass at 350+ psi?

I don't know how far into the "+" range it would hold, but properly mixed and applied epoxy should be okay for 350 psi.

No worries, thanks alot for that. If not, I'll go to a metal work shop and get one of the blokes there a few bucks to solder it up for me.

Araldite?! Isn't that stuff like glue? I would trust JB Weld up to 150psi, 200 maybe, but unless its copper epoxy on copper I wouldn't trust it that high, just get someone at a garage to braze(sp?) it for you.

What exactly is it holding? If the fitting is under alot of strain I wouldn't take it very high, like if it's holding a chamber together.

A common problem I have with JB weld is, if the joint where it is applied gets knocked slightly when under strain it cracks very easily.

I tried to use JB Weld to secure a brass fitting to a FE as my chamber, I bumped it slightly on a corner of my work bench and the damn FE flew of and into my garage wall.

Cheers lads, thanks alot. How would you prepare the fittings though? Just wash it properly with metho?

Well I can't find a 5/16th tube bush or a compression fitting because in that size, just way too hard to find so I'm going to drill a hole in a brass end cap and hopefully epoxy it in.

Cheers for that. On a more possitive note, I bought my shock pump last night. a 360psi monster for 25 bucks and that includes delivery! booyah!
