How easy would they break though? I wouldn't want to spend that much if they broke on every shot.

Well, teflon is fairly hard, and it retains it's shape pretty well, so I doubt that it would break.

There is also cheaper, but less slick balls that would probably work here...

I'm pretty sure that the nylon, hdpe, and teflon one's would work the best though...

Just a thought: It says these things are used in check valves and such. With that said, I wonder how good these would be, acting as a piston for a piston valve cannon.

I'm pretty sure some people have sucessfuly used teflon rods
as pistons.

Well, they have that too.... But yeah, I think that would be interesting for sure! You just need an o-ring. Well, actually, I have used an airsoft pellet for a mini piston.

That's practically what I did with my pen gun project - the BB piston was supported but it probably would have worked just as well on its own.

Teflon is reasonably dense, the 1/4" ones would weight about 0.8 grams - heavier than most 6mm airsoft BBs, though they might just be fractionally too large for a 6mm airsoft barrel.

Yeah, actually you inspired me to try just using a bb. It seems to work, except I still can't get the dumb shrader to fill right.

EDIT: Dang! 0.8 grams is really heavy! But yeah, probably wouldn't fit into a barrel. Maybe a large(ish) pentube though...

Not really, an average 0.22 airgun pellet weighs around 1 gram.

They would deform easy if they hit a hard surface. Virgin teflon is so soft you can carve it with a knife (literally). There are different fillers used to obtain different characteristics, Glass, Bronze, e.t.c.

I'm not saying they would be bad ammo at all, just a little expensive

i plan on buying some .43g teflon coated airsoft bbs for snipers which sould go along way very fast, even faster because they are super slick

Well, it says that they can be used for medium load ball bearings... So I doubt they are that soft.

But hey, like I said, there was cheaper balls available at the site too.

They are cheaper and way harder.

The friction wouldn't matter that much, either.


I'll gladly admit defeat if someone proves me wrong, though.

It is possible that they are harder, I just thought that teflon would be cool because of its low friction characteristics.
