Decided to bodge together a moc-up of my final dual QEV rifle earlier on today. The concept drawing and topic can be found here.
This is not how the final gun will look, as I have to remake the fill/pilot section of the gun as I ran out of 12mm fittings for the QEVs, so I was forced to use a female and male quick-connect as part of the pilot. The report of this gun is LOUD, so I fixed up my previous silencer, and I must say that it does reduce the sound significantly. I have now idea by how much (I am not a decibel meter) but it is noticably quieter with it attatched.
The reason for a QEV as a pilot valve, is that I figured that the faster a valve opens, the faster the air will exit the barrel, resulting in more power. Since I have 5 working QEVs at my disposal, I thought I might as well see if this works. It is louder than my other 15mm QEV gun (might be due to 2 QEVs actuating) and has more kick (without ammo) than other similar size guns I have built.
Anywho..Onto the pictures...
Main shot
Ghetto fill/pilot setup
More Ghettoness
The 2 QEVs
Constructive critisms is more than welcome.

^ That didn't occur to me, but it does...
Seems odd that part of the inspiration for that came from something I did. Quite a new experience for me that, given that most of my work up until now has been inspired by something someone else did.
Looks fine so far, but doesn't the definition of ghetto state that the launcher has to use more than one variety of tape (PTFE not included) in the construction, and less than 50% rated components?
On second thoughts, ignore my rambling, and keep up the good work.
Oh, so you noticed this minute text, maybe after thinking it was an underline but who noticed the OTHER text? Oh yes, there was more, but you missed it didn't you? Well, I'm not telling you where it is, go and look yourself. And no cheating and looking before Christmas. That's very impolite. I mean - I don't start looking around your posts for presents in advance, do I? No, and Santa doesn't like naughty boys and girls.

@ psycix: It may be overkill, but it opens the first QEV faster than a blowgun, resulting in an increase in power.
@ spudgunnerwryyyyy: Thats why I named the gun "Gaus Lightning" as the chamber looks gaus gun/flamethrower-ish.
@ Ragnarok: The reason the fill/pilot is ghetto is because I soldered parts together that shouldn't be (2 brass hex nuts) for connectors and drilling out certain parts to alow it to be used as a pilot set up. The whole "Tee" section by the blowgun is made from 4 different copper fittings soldered together.

I suppose there is more than enough there for ghetto, but I still like my definition better.Infernal Maveric wrote:@ Ragnarok: The reason the fill/pilot is ghetto is because I soldered parts together that shouldn't be (2 brass hex nuts) for connectors and drilling out certain parts to alow it to be used as a pilot set up. My recollection of gauss guns in games is quite different to that, but in the games I play, a gauss gun usually weighs several tons and is bolted to a 40 foot mech.
Where is your chamber originally from BTW? It's really quite odd.

is where I got the feeling that the chamber looked a bit like part of Gauss gun. I found the chamber at a scrap yard while cutting some fuel line for my BB gun. I guess it may have just been chucked in there. I cleaned and spray painted the whole thing, that's why it's matt black.

The scrap yard is a good while away from me, so I rarely get to go there, but when I do I like to take advantage of the situation by looking for usrful crap there.
