on my upcoming combustion i was planning on using liquid green gas as its fuel. i had read in many places green gas is propane, and green gas is a bit more portable/ easier to hook up than a standard propane can. i thought it would be the perfect choice to power my mortar (which is meant to be set up and fired within a matter of seconds, like a real mortar) but after reading the contents of the can i am thinking i will have to find another fuel, it reads "CHz FCF3 CH3" if i am remembering correctly there is no element "Hz" and there no fluorine in propane. can some one explain this to me?

Are you sure those are elements, and not just some type of code?

If nothing else, you could just empty the tank and refill it with normal propane.

Green gas would be a waste... trust me.

Get a disposable propane bottle adapter from BCarms and that's it.

Green gas is largely propane, but it is not pure propane.

Go with real propane, and do the job properly.

Green gas (from what I know of it) is propane with silicone oil added to it. Hook it to a flame and see if your variety burns. If it does, go for it and let us know how it turns out.

Wikipedia learns you alot. (first hit on google too)

Copied directly from wikipedia, green gas:
After researching the properties of Green Gas, it was determined by Carlton Chong of Airsoft Innovations that Green Gas is propane with silicone oil added. Since Green Gas propellant is propane, some airsofters are increasing the economy of consuming the propellant by using consumer available propane canisters originally used for fuelling camping stoves, lanterns, barbecues and welding torches. To provide compatibility between the airsoft Gas Blow Back guns and the propane canister outlet, a propane canister adaptor, produced by Airsoft Innovations, must be used and silicone lubricant needs to be dropped into the tank valve every 8 to 10 magazine fills (in the case of a blowback gun). However using propane is not recommended for guns with non metal internal parts because propane adds more power and can destroy the gun. If propane is used in a full metal gun remember that propane doesn't have silicone which lubricates the gun like green gas so for blowback guns it is important that they are well lubricated.

So its propane + lubricant.
It seems it is also less powerful then propane so it doesnt destroy the guns.[/url]

really... from the research i have done propane is red gas not green gas

SpudBlaster15 - do you expect "the Generic Chinese Company inc" to include molar mass and flash point on their product, to be honest i was surprised they put the contents on there.

hubb017 - problem is it seems to blow out flames at 100psi

Propane certainly wouldn't do wonders for power in an airsoft gun. If that was the desired effect, helium or hydrogen would be used. I don't even know if propane would increase power over CO2, due to its relatively high density, so I have a lot of trouble with the bit about it destroying guns. Unless they are talking about the pressure difference, but unregged propane is usually 130 psi max.

And from my limited knowledge of the subject, red gas is is chlorodifluoromethane, a hydrochlorofluorocarbon that is completely synthetic, hence the Red gas moniker, when compared with the completely natural propane, or Green Gas.

hubb017 - no you don't understand i mean it literally blow out the flame, as in it doesn't light, no combustion.

propane is used in airsoft guns because it can be stored a liquid state easily, same with co2 it can be stored as a liquid but not quite as easily. hydrogen and helium require huge amounts of pressure and very low temperatures to become liquids.

I did misunderstand. Sorry. If it doesn't light, why are you considering using it?
