I know I am totaly new to Spudfiles ,but I just wanted to ask a newby question. Is modding a valve totaly nessisary for a cannon to work? :? I mean can't you just hook it up to some batteries and call it good? I ask this because if I buy a valve it will be the only one I buy with no room for error. Drilling a hole through the cap seams kind of risky for my first gun.

BTW I'm very happy to be a member of Spudfiles :D

Modding the vave will give the gun a very significant performance increase. so ask yourself, "Do I want an ok gun, or do I want a Great gun?"
BTW, If you're not confident in drilling a proper hole, you need to work on your technique before you build a gun. welcome to spudfiles :D

Ok, will the increase be more or less than 2. Ex. 50 ft unmodded to 100 ft modded? :?:

Nobody (to my knowledge) has ever formaly tested the performance increase. But the valve does open with a very solid BAM rather than a whimpy WHOPHSSSS. in other words, the valve opens much faster

THX for the info. :D Kind of sad though :( because i thought a electricaly modded would be way easier then a pneumatic.
edit: what parts do i need for pneumatic modd?
blowgun
niples
dril+bit
anything else?

You dont have to mod it. you can start with electric and upgrade later.

If you are worried about damaging a valve, but really want a better cannon, you could get a pre-modded one.

Like Mopherman said, start with the stock valve and mod it later if you want to. You can even leave the solenoid intact when you do the mod and still be able to switch back to electrically fired if you want to.

Here is my version of the sniper (I didn't build the breach loading mechanism).

jimmy101:Wow that's a nice gun! It's electric right?BTW is it ABS or PVC?

elitesniper: i thought moding it pneumaticaly cost more then electric :?: Gues i was wrong.

Also do I need anything els to mod it pneumaticaly? And which is better with or without a hose or does it not mater?

one last thing-is an electricaly moded solenoid better then a ball valve?
