Hey, well i got the parts for my ignition, but i have a different kind of relay. Here is a picture of what it shows for the pins, so how would I wire this type?

those squares are pins, yes there are eight

this a link to the relay: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index ... age=search

I'll be using this with a camera capacitor and ignition coil by the way

EDIT: It is a double Pole double throw relay, here is what wikipedia says about it
DPDT - Double Pole Double Throw. These have two rows of change-over terminals. Equivalent to two SPDT switches or relays actuated by a single coil. Such a relay has eight terminals, including the coil.

what do you want to do?? the thing acts as two switches which are separate. when the relay is off the switches are connected to the one contact. when the relay is on they switch to the other contact. you can use it as two separate on off switches!

I need to figure out how to wire it like the one in the spudwiki how to, or at least how to make it perform the same task.

OK I've seen the link. but it is rather hard to explain. on your diagram you want to use pin 9 or pin 12 for the one connection and then probably pin 5 or pin 8 for the other.

no
the battery and switch must go to 13 and 14 cause those are the switching coil!!
the capacitor and coil can be wired like that though

Been thanked: 1 time

Yep, that looks to be about right. Those relays basically just let you operate two different circuits at once, but you can just ignore one switch if you want to.
