help attaching a shrader vlave

I am a noob at this whole pneumatic canon thing so first off i have sucusfuly built a combusion canon and a bbmg but have yet to try to build a pneumatic canon i understand the principal to the solinoid style canon and gow it works but im not sure how to attach a shrader valve. yes i know not to use cell core pvc. also has anyboy used the pnumatic kit from BC arms. its a un assembled small pneumatic so i figgure that that would be a god place to start. any helpfull coments on pneumatic canons would be appreciatted. i will post some pix of my combustion later

is it a pop in rubber one or a threaded one?

yes i know not to use cell core pvc.

And DWV for that matter, make sure you only use pressure rated pipe.

The kit from BC ARMS should be a good start for a beginner, you probably can change it up a bit to your own needs as well.

If it is the threaded kind, all you need to do is drill a hole, 1/2'' for a 1/4'' thread, and I forget what it is for 1/8'', but then you just thread it in carefully and there you go, and remember to put some teflon tape on it afterwards.

get an end cap drill a hole in it slightly smaller than the valve and hammer it in. or buy a kit.

ok i know to use pressure rated pipe so where would i go about getting a pipe tap and 1/4 in threaded shrader vlave

a tap can be found at most hardware stores. a threaded schrader valve can be found at either an automotive store(NAPA,Checkers,Autozone,Carquest,BigA) or a tire shop.

Why the hell would you need a tap?

PVC is soft plastic, a schrader valve is hard metal, it will thread itself, just drill the right size hole.

Drill a 1/2'' hole and use the schrader valve as your tap. When you do it make sure and take you time so you are not to mess it up.

is the 1/2in hole for 1/8 in threaded or 1/4 in threaded also do i need to use teflon tape. do i jb weld arround the top when im done, to stop leaks. what is the correct sized drill bit for 1/8 in threaded stuff

Too many questions.

When you get the schrader valve, go up to your garage, find a drill bit and match it up to find one slightly smaller then the schrader threads, then that's your drill bit.

If your drilling into PVC, ABS etc you wont need JB Weld, only teflon tape.

A pair of calipers is a great investment for any spudder. Digital ones are even better if you can get a pair.

Why not use a bushing and coupling? This will eliminate the need to drill into anything.

I have a piece at my house that is a schrader / pop off / gauge combo. I forget what it's called but it threads into 3/8" threads and is perfect for a larger pneumatic.
