I'm a n00b...

Ok so i have been snooping around in these forums for a while now and i am now getting ready to build my first real cannon. It will be Pneumatic and i think i want to use a sprinkler valve unless anyone can come up with a reason to use a piston (i thought about using a piston but i just want to save time). My goal is that i want to be able to launch golf balls, and maybe tennis balls. i think i have a good idea of what i need except that i have one question. all i can find at all my local hardware stores are 1" valves and i wanted to know should i keep looking for a 1.5" or a 2"? or will a 1" be fine? also if anyone could send me some links to some valves i would be pleased. also i am in needs of a shader valve.. i looked at ace, home depot and lowes, but no luck? should i try auto part stores? thank you. so much.

I have started construction on my tank it is being constructed form 5 PVC dont know the specs cuz i am a n00b other than it has 600 psi rating at 74*. its going to be over under style. i'll post pics in this thread on sat. thanks guys.


p.s. i decided to make a pneumatic b/c i though that combustion are for cavemen. lol

maybe a Mauler valve will come later on a project that isnt my first, but i am ordering a GB barrel and possible a TB barrel. how fast is the shipping?

you know i'm a supporter of all this local buisiness shit, but man find your local irrigation supply store. they have 1.5 and 2 inch valves and 1.5 inch sdr21 pipe and 2.5 inch sch40 and every fitting you need. unless of course you don't live in the us or anywhere near where any farming or whatever is done, but seriously come on

Apparently in WW2 heavy bomber crew members over Germany would urinate into condoms, at high altitude the liquid would then freeze and the resulting "bladder bomb" would be lobbed out of the aircraft to the detriment of the Nazi citizenry below.

You could do the same with your cannon, just put the condom into a section of barrel tube first before freezing it.

hmm sounds like this will be an interesting cannon. do you have any pics of the pipe and/or fittings? how big are you planning to make this thing? oh and how much money are you willing to sink into it? (sounds like a lot. haha)

thats about the most hilarious thing i have ever herd... but maybe instead of piss condoms, i use cheap water bottles. cuz thats just a waste of condoms in my opinion..
