Questions on valves

I've been looking around for a blowgun to use with my piston-valve pneumatic rifle. I found one on mcmaster.com (item no. 6852K11) and I'm wondering if it would be ok to use with a 1/4" NPT (7/8" length) steel close nipple (44615K412) to screw it into the pipe.
Also, I found a Schrader valve with 1/8" NPT hardware already installed (8063K41). Could I just install that directly into the PVC using teflon and a ~1/4" hole?

Yes, yes and yes. Just make sure you don't drill a hole too big.

Edit: Oh and try and tap the schrader valve through two layers of PVC, not one, like a fitting or something.

Taps may be a little costly but great for confidence , just knowing one part is done safely. Right on the tap the proper drill bit size is stamped .
Right size bit and tap used on PVC will last for ever. Give it to your grand kids!

All very good advise.

I will add a drill and tap chart, might be an idea to save it or print it out. Reference materials always come in handy.

Thanks for that Geppeto
The drill sizes are some times odd , not in simple drill indexes.
So get the exact size and don't lose it.

Hi,

Is there something wrong here? 21/32 inches for an 1/8 inch fitting?

I know that the 1/8 inch is not to be taken literally, but that hole would be so large that the whole fitting (I have lots of them so I should know their approx. size) would drop right through it ....

Regards
Soren

That chart has a severe problem. It shows the hole for 1/8" threads as being larger than the hole for 3/8". :?

the diff from 1/8 to 1/2 is 2/32

Do you think he could have meant 21/64? That would be a lot more reasonable.
