So I was brain storming new Ideas and I did a few searches but nothing came up besides stuff in pneumatics.
I was thinking on using a piston valve in a hybrid. My idea is based on a coaxial design piston valve. Behind the piston you have a fairly stiff spring that keeps it closed. You charge your gun to a certain mix... and then trigger it. The pressure would build until it was high enough to moves the piston back. Then you have some kind of catch that would keep the piston back to let out all the exhaust gases. My idea would be a spring loaded catch that could be reset before every launch. The piston would have have a fairly good seal against the inside of the pipe.
I know burst disks have a higher flow efficiency but this would (if it works) give a bit more precise settings on when the valve opened and be reusable and easily resettable...
Thats my brainstorm... any thoughts?

Edit: Probably won't be around again until Monday....

DO NOT FORGET GALFISK!!
he has the piston gun up and running the only thing that has to be fixed is a bad regulator for the gass...

i talk to him daily and he has another hobby (sadly he was a good man on the spudtech) so the hybrid will have to wait he says... he is a pyro man now
