If it was a problem, you wouldn't be online asking about it right now, rather in the emergency room.elitesniper wrote:hey guys im just a little concerned is this a big problem if i breathed in a small amount of burnt pvc?

Your body can resist a limited exposure to just about any fumes. There's only a few gases that immediately attack the nervous system. Prolonged exposure to some fumes is the problem, mostly lung or brain damage. Also, breathing super heated air, as from a house fire, is a very serious thing. One deep breath can kill you.

As far as health, yes. As far as the other, well, that's your opinionelitesniper wrote:so to sum it up, im fine right?
Hi,
As far as I remember, the gases from burnt PVC produce hydrochloric acid when getting in contact with water. That's why even a moderate PVC fire can ruin large amounts of machinery, electrical installations etc.
But a single breath of that should'nt do much.

Soren

Your body can bounce back from much more serious injuries than most people realise. In terms of hydrogen chloride gas, if it didn't take you out then, it isn't going to get you now. I'd personally be much more worried about breathing in something like aluminum or steel dust, which will worsen with time.
