foam piston?

would it be possible to construct a piston entirely out of closed cell foam? has anyone tried this out before and if so did it work out okay?
Closed cell foam would be crushed because the air bubbles inside would have a lower pressure than the chamber.

has used foam on the inside of one of his pistons (i think) then casted epoxy around it (well as it invloves epoxy he probably has
)
