Another way to mod a sprinkler valve?

Instead of drilling through the top cover of the valve, could I drill through where the solenoid would usually go? This way I wouldn't need epoxy or a cap to plug the solenoid hole.

if u did alot more drilling it will work just not as fast but using a cap or wat ever with a hole in the top will be the best bid

I have done it, I had to use some epoxy to block off a hole in the center though.
All in all, it wasn't worth it and I would only mod it that way if there was no other options.

ya thats wat i am thinking but i dont have much time and knowledge about modifying them i only done one
Demon is right, but depending on the model of valve you have there might be enough housing on the valve to bore out this hole. Just make sure there's no leaking between the top of the phragm and the exhaust port. Ideally you would want something to cap or seal that tiny hole that leads to the exhaust port but if you really refuse to use epoxy i guess it would suffice. it's totally worth the money to just fill it in, you'll get alot better performance, unless you are planning to use that exhaust hole for a gas-blowback design... that would be sweet

i'm using my cannon (almost complete, - the sprinkler valve) for science fair, and i just wanted to know if there was any other way, for the sake of time. apparently it isn't worth the effort. thanks guys!
as for the blowback design... that's not a bad idea. i'll be thinking about that one
