Jury rigged scope mounts

I have a new pneumatic copper gun that i am making right now and i have always wanted a kind of accurate gun with a scope on it. I know you have to use a scope mount and all, but my question comes in, how do you get the scope mount on tight enough or at least incorporating the scope mount sturdy enough for semi accurateness? I have seen the "jury rigged" mounts but I would think if you had it on the floor, it would move to the side, causing complete inaccurateness. I was wondering if anyone had had another way of efficiently putting a scope on a non mounted gun before. I have already made the stock for it, and it is just carved out so that the bottom half the barrel is in the gun, and the rest is outside.

Why not just use the real thing?

You could optionally fashion some wooden mounts, cut PVC tees in half, use hose clamps, cables ties, etc etc. It's sort of the same design problem as a barrel mount on an over and under cannon design.

Oh crap, i didn't mean the mounts sorry. I meant the scope rails the mounts will go on. Or am i just loosing the whole concept...?

just epoxy an appropriately sized strip of metal to the barrel that the mounts can grab onto.

Just build some basic rails out of wood and screw them to your cannon. It wouldn't have to be very fancy to get the job done. Take care to mount it inline and parallel with the barrel.

Even with a well setup scope, your accuracy is going to drift from shot to shot. So, your aim should be to be able to hit something only slightly smaller than the broad side of a barn...

I got some rails from a friend off his AR-15 that fit perfect on my 1/2 inch copper shooter if it helps at all

Off a real ar-15 or just an airsoft one because i would not have good luck getting that.

You can buy the rails separate from a gun store, or they can order them for you.

I made rails out of two strips of 1/8" sheet pvc, you just cut one strip to the dimentions of the scope clamps then chamfer the bottom two edges lengthwise, then glue another strip about the same size to the bottom of that, drill two holes in it and screw it into the top of your gun, super simple.

I just bought a scope rail and mounted it to my gun using some bolts- the rail was sort of expensive but easier than building my own
