I've just been looking on The Spudgun Technology Center and seen their 'Supah Valves'.
Are they actually worth the extra $70+?
And what's the difference between male and female adapters?

What I said was that it is an EXTRA $70+ from the modified sprinkler valve to the most basic Supah Valve on the SGTC :D

Ya, so basically the male is an out bit and then female is an in bit. Hmm...... I think I see where they get the names from.
Can you buy them in normal hardware stores?

The thing is I can't really afford the $100 so does it really matter if I just get a normal sprinkler valve? I might get one of these for my later projects though.

Yes, male and female fittings are available most everywhere. My local hardware store carries them in steel from .125"-2", and in PVC up to 4" (although they only carry PW up to 1.25"...)

The flow from a supah is going to be 6-8 times better than that from a sprinkler valve. This is an effect of having only a 90* bend, and having 2" porting instead of 1". The flow/money ratio is very favorable compared to the moded sprinkler, especial at joel's price for the modded sprinkler.

In small-bore projects (1.25" barrel or less) your valve choise shouldn't make too much difference unless you want to probe the sound barrier. You might try modeling the guns with the GGDT to find out just how much difference it will make.
To model the supah, I use a chamber sealing valve; piston diameter of 2.5", 2" seat, CV of 60%, pilot vol 16 in^3, vent diameter .375-.57" (supah vs supah+). This may or may not be accurate, but it's a reasonable geuss.

So it wouldn't matter much with a BBMG ya?

What's GGDT?

I knew I should have linked to the <a href="http://www1.iwvisp.com/thehalls/GGDT/in ... l">GGDT</a>...

And the paragraph which was ciphers to you... it should make more since after you read the entirety of the documentation on the GGDT website.
(I say entirety because I'm tired of explaining things which are covered in the documentation, just because someone is too lazy to read the damn manual. However, I'll gladly provide help if you continue to have trouble after you've read the documentation.)

Ill read it then get back to you if I have any problems.
Would a Supah-Valve be worth using with a BBMG?

i think another question to think about is. is it worth the 2 month 1 1/2 week+ wait? i ordered mine that long ago and it says that it has not been shiped yet when i enter the info on the consomer service section. though from what i hear it will be worth the wait.

dang when will mine arrive. :x

There will be absolutely no difference what-so-ever if your barrel is less than ~.57" in diameter. (the diameter a sprinkler can provide 100% flow to.)

It's not worth it for a BBMG.
Heck, most people just use a blowgun, which has less than 1/8" porting.

So what exactly is a blowgun in comparison? And where would I get one?

Blowguns go for 3-10$, and you should be able to find them in the air compressor section of any decently sized hardware store.

This is a blowgun.
It took about 2 minutes to find it using google image search.
