LUPARA: In the works

Hi guys, haven't been online much lately.
Got two kids remember?
They keep me busy.(That and a PS3 with GTA 4 and Burn out Paradise :D )

But you can always count on me to bring you something never tried before...

After getting bored ( amazingly fast) with the full auto rifle I made,
I turned my attention back on creating the ultimate sawed-off.
I used old parts, for now, and tested a QEV at full unregged CO2 pressure.

The QEV held up nice. The valve was already modded to accept filling from the chamber side.
I hooked it up through an elbow, straight to a 12 gram adapter.
A hammer valve at the back does the rest.I had to mod a few things for everything to fit together..

Voila, a 900 psi repeater in 1/2" bore, firing lead balls halfway into wood, with a barrel effectively SHORTER that the 12 gram adapter!
Just take a look at the pic and you can see it is just pistol sized!

Halfway won;t do it for me, so I'll have to get me a longer barrel than that, but still.
Pleasing results!
Need a heavy hammer to set it off though.
But like with BT2B, I'll get it done.
About 6 shots a capsule.

Want to know about the name LUPARA, google it!

Thats some nice work, how long is the barrel? can't be more than 25cm?

try half that..
The breech is not even all the way in the back.

The brass bit is the end of the barrel, and the inner tube jumps back another cm..

If I would make it the size of my first sawed-off, the lead ball would disappear in that piece of wood, I'm sure.

Firings sound very crisp and clean, like a pneumatic nailgun.
Clunk!

that is cool. wow, 900psi from a 12 gram? if you put a 3 1/2 ft barrel on this how would it perform? (is the chamber volume too small for that?) I ask because I am working on a .50 cal muzzle loader and was planning on using a 20 oz tank. do you think the 12 gram would work for me?

whats the hammer valve like, is it just check-valve/non-return valve style?

It will for 6 shots, if you mod the QEV.
And use one heck of a hammer.

The output is more than enough to justify a longer barrel.
It will become much more effective, and more quiet as a result.

Normally a pneumatic dumps all it;s pressure, but not this one, so a longer barrel silences it.Well, not the hammer valve of course.
If you want to find out how to mod a qev, look up my BT2B thread and the 35 bar repeater.

JSR will probably provide the links anyway..

EDIT: the hammer valve is a poppet style valve.
Think bolt through hole, O-ring behind the bolthead.Like that.

yeah makes sense, is it a BTB custom? or an off the shelf part?

Custom, but no need for it to be.

I made it from a stock part that just had the wrong thread size.
A cut-up safety valve replaces the body, the stem I kept.
Threaded it to accept a small nut so I could keep it all together with a spring.

O-ring and bolt works just the same..

I'm familiar enough with a famiglia not to need to do that :D

Looking good, as always, and p-l-e-a-s-e make it pump action!

For those who were wondering, this is Brian's previous and very successfull attempt at making a hammer valve repeater.

Another true BTB production.
Well done!

Any chance of more pictures or videos?

For the lazy, here's where the name presumably came from.

Yep that's it.
A 12 gram adapter is a standard paintball part.Lot's of shops should have it.

Pictures and/or video will follow when I finish it.Wich might take some time as the endproduct is ment for a customer. It needs to be clean.

Customer asked for a typical BTB product, namely a short, overpowered shotgun, wich can fire more that one shot off one charge. He doesn't have a compressor, so 12 grams it is.
Reloading mechanism is up to me, as he would be satisfied with a muzzle loader.

The pump action idea is proving kinda hard as I can't afford to use up much length to encorperate it in the design.
Idea's are welcome.
