Hi everyone,

I has been along time since my last post on here and i am glad to say that i have finished my 2" Tee housed Piston GB Gun. Even better to say is is works great, but the gun has one downfall. The Bumper. The bumper i have been using is just garden hose, this works great for about 4 to 5 shots, but by the 6 or more shot the hose and been crushed so badly it is no longer able to cushion the piston when it is moving backwards.

This is why i am looking for a new bumper, I have been thinking about using a pool noodle but i am not sure how well it will work? I have been thinkign that when it is under pressure it will shrink and will not re-expand quick enough to cushion the piston.

has anyone else used a pool noodle as a bumper? and if so how well does it work? Along with this what else makes a good reliable bumper?

Thanks for the help, you guys are always great at that. :)

Cameron

PS. I will hopefully have pictures of my gun on here soon ocne i get ahold of a camera. :D

how long does it last before it needs replacing? And do you attach it to the back of the piston or near the exhaust valve?

Thanks for the suggestion MrClowley your always a good helper.

Well i've probably had it going for 60-100 firings now...i've opened up the piston assembly a few times to notice it's scrunched up, you can unscrunch it or replace it.

I just realised that I only used this on my SGA...on my current cannon (VAL) I just bolted some rubber to the piston, and that's worked beautifully.

If we're just throwing what we use as bumpers around, I use rubber washers on the surface the piston will hit, and a spring-loaded plate on the back of the piston.

Not so sure it would work well for large valves though.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

I've used neoprene sheet (copper guns) and a buna o-ring for bumpers.

Several hundred shots through the copper guns and my pvc gun, with no signs of failure.

Thanks for all the help guys. Much appreciated

I went to bunnings last night and got a garden knee board thing and i am going to just bolt it onto the back of the piston. And its only 2 bucks for one and there is plenty of knee board to make about 20 or more bumpers. :D

Thanks alot as always.
