I am not into hybrids and combustions but I have an idea for a burst disk for repeaters... it's rather simple and I am surpsrised no one thought of it AFAIK.... feel free to comment on it or use it

ok here it goes:
**************************************************************
the idea is to build a burst disk holder similar to the breech assembly of this --> http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/5-shot- ... 17181.html

and use a camera film (or something similar) as a sort of continuous burst disk... the film would slide after each shot - just like it normally does in 'traditional' cameras... from one frame to the next one and so on... of course it would require timing and some serious tinkering to get it work good but it's doable

That's a very interesting idea. It would take some effort to make, but there's no reason it wouldn't work. I can imagine guns with big burst disk film reels now...

well it doesn't really need a camera film... just any kind of long tape with rows of small holes near the two edges... not that I think that you are not aware of it... I am clarifying it for others

also instead of using electric motors to press the two sealing surffaces of the breech/burst disk holder toghether to hold the burst disk you can use aircylinders

I wasn't saying larger camera film. Larger camera film is pretty flimsy and expensive. "Burst disk film" is just the name that came to mind when I was writing.

You might not need the guide holes too. Using the burst disk film as a belt should work unless it has terrible tensile strength.

You could make your own film. 2 inch wide masking tape comes to mind. You would have to cut holes in it for the gear to rotate it.

I think the holes aren't needed.
You could cut a roll of aluminum foil into multiple short rolls. (Reminds me of making sushi :D)
Aluminum foil is a great burst disk material and it comes on rolls so thats also a reason to use it.
Till the day I'm dieing, I'll keep them spuddies flying, 'cause I can!
