What would be better/safer

I just got all the parts for my first pneumatic gun.

I bought a 1/8" NPT Tank Valve to put the air into my chamber. Would it be better and safer to drill through 1 or 2 layers of PVC to thread it in. The total threaded length is about 7mm long. Since it is threaded it would be safe to just drill a slightly smaller hole, put teflon tape and just screw it in? Anything I am leaving out?

Edit: I measured the thickness of the PVC and it is 8mm thick, 1 mm longer than the thread would reach.

Always find a 2 layer place to drill any holes if at all possible. Plan to properly tap them as well. If for some reason you cannot tap, seal it with JB Weld or Epoxy.

Been thanked: 3 times

Even if the threads aren't long enough to go through to the second layer, the second layer is 'welded' to the first, creating a chemical bond that makes the PVC 'one'. This double layer helps the structural integrity of the PVC and lowers the risk of cracking.
