Another review by me, this time a Guan-Li A-10 Electric Ducted Fan R/C Jet.
Yesterday, the wind went to nothing flat for the first time in a month. I took a few friends and a couple cameras and tried to fly the damn thing. Not much else to say, the video pretty much speaks for itself.

I'm no expert on these things but it seemed a little under powered. I know that properly configured gas powered duct fans have power aplenty but of course at the expense of much more $$$$ and complexity. But, can you get the real power you need from an electric setup to drive twin duct fans in this otherwise nice plane?
Good job on the build. I love scale models....

Duct fans... Never have to replace a prop! Cool. You talked for a hella long time though...

EDF's are more ideal in extremely light planes. A plane of the warthogs build will never be very light for it's size. Nice plane though, it'd be nice if I had the room to fly on that scale here...
There was a nice A-10 in airborne with twin turbines..but the cost would be off the scale

Or you could go Li-Po and brushless... the power to weight ratio of some of those setups (even in EDF) is pretty amazing. A pretty small 2 cell lipo can keep my coaxial heli in the air for 7+ minutes, (been a while since I timed it, the new lipo may well go longer), and that's driving the RC gear, two servos and two brushed motors (which get HOT!) pretty much constantly.
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

Again, it wasn't underpowered. It LOST power entirely right before it tanked.
The radio glitched (as outlined in the review) and the engines cut out, as well as the servos going wonky. It's got enough power and should go quite fast (it has plenty of thrust, trust me on this one).
I won't be modifying this thing with new motors (one because it's dense Styrofoam, two because of money. This was a Christmas present) or anything, likely the only thing I'll do is add rocket rails to where the gear goes.
This is of course a brushed motor plane, and each EDF doesn't put out too impressive of an amount of thrust. Suits me fine, I don't want it to go fast. I want to maintain a steady video feed. Fast does not equal accurate munitions placement. (Hint hint, this thing is gonna help make airsoft HUGE down here.)

First of all, why are you using brushed motors? Brushless motors and Lipos are so cheap nowadays and the power to weight is awesome for the size and price.
At a minimum tell me you use lipos. For the price you get more power and much less weight.
What kind of radio do you use? Perhaps Spektrum tech to fix the interference/glitching.
Other than that, it looks like a great paint job and nice build!
EDIT: Damn I didn't see the reply's for some reason

One last thing I have to say, and sorry for the buzzkill....
It's an RTF package. 'Nuff said.

Ok thats makes much more sense now. RTF's sometimes skimp quality on the electronics to keep the prices low.
Hope all goes well for you.
