As the title says. It looks like the weight balance should work.

But what effect would the threads have on velocity and stability.. thoughts?



Are there other fasteners or anchors I'm missing that would be effective without wadding/sabot/etc?

They could work I guess, best method would be to try it! If the threads are much less gradual they would add a kind of rifling, but at those angles they will either do nothing or waste a large portion of energy.

The threads will cause turbulence and have more resistance with the air OR LESS, like a golfball. That just depends on the geometry.
In the barrel itself they will probably behave like any other cylindrical projectile.
The threads will probably not cause it to spin.

Yeah I know the threads wouldn't induce rotation, as the 'rifling' on the real ones doesn't. Just curious whether the turbulence would eliminate the stability from being mass forward.

Hadn't thought about the possibility for less air resistance like a golf ball, interesting. Just have to test it out I guess.

What's cool is they seem to be made of very hard steel, as I haven't been able to drill through one on a drill press. Could make for some sweet damage.
