I might be being blind but is there a "Show New Posts in Last X of time" button anywhere?

I know there's show new posts since last visited, but sometimes if you've been logged in too long and not done anything it seems to reset.

Simplest method I find is hit the: F5 key or click on refresh.
This is of course if you are using Windows Internet Explorer.

Hope that helps

No that just refreshes things which doesn't make any difference at all. In fact it could make it worse.

What I'm wondering about is a user settable "find new posts since .... " button, as opposed to the existing "new posts since last visit".

Hi SPG!
You're member of SpudFiles since xx xxx xx xxxx and you wrote ??? messages.
You last visited on 03/26/2009 18:41 PM
There are: 31 new messages | 2 new topics | No new private messages | No new members
Straight above every page. Click on the 31, or what ever the number happens to be.

You guys still aren't getting it.

That "31 new messages" resets after you view a few pages, or maybe when you accidentally close the window.

What SPG wants to do is be able to select "View posts since [insert day and time here], and then have it churn out all the posts after that day, or before that day.

Not currently installed on the site, but something that could probably be integrated into the search feature like the "new posts" thing currently is.

Exactly Mark - I was beginning to wonder if I'd taken a stupid pill overnight or something.

I know there's something similar in that if you scroll down to the bottom of this thread you'll see:

Display posts from previous: and then a couple of boxes with drop downs

and if you go up one level to the "Website Discussion" subforum, you get

Display topics from previous: and then a couple of boxes with drop downs

but if you go up to the top level "Spudfiles Forum Index" you lose that choice. But hey, it's not the end of the world, if I spot it on another phpBB forum I'll try find out the mod.

No me neither, running a forum is hell on earth I know. I started this off cos I figured it was probably here already and I just couldn't see it.

Or perhaps there's something in the ACP which just needs a tweak so that the time delay before the software automatically resets the post counter to zero can be increased?

Sorry guys, the best thing I got for ya is to...

Go to the forum you wish to view. (Pneumatic Showcase, Combustion Discussion, etc)

Go to the bottom of the page. Right above the "New Topic" button, in the grey blue bar there is a dropdown for "Show posts from" and you can select a number of days. Say you set 7 days, then it will only show the last 7 days of new topics/topics with new replies.
Yes, I am the guy that owns & operates SpudFiles (along with our extremely helpful moderators).

Did you just add that? or has it been there?

It has been there for as long as I can remember.

Also PCGUY, in case you missed it I sent you a message back about the wiki bug. If you're busy that's fine.

Thanks Mister PCGuy Sir, I guessed that was the only way.

Of course the other way is never ever walk away from Spudfiles once you're logged on. I mean why would you want to?
