What would be the best material to make a piston out of for a spring-piston air rifle? Or can I buy something? Thanks in advance!

I would need a lathe to cut the grooves for the o-rings

some people used a drill press, and chucked the part in the drill

Put the stock in the chuck and spin it against a exacto knife...

Try hard rubber door stopper. These things you screw onto the floor.

Parts with rings can be made on a drill press.
The two pictures are two different valves. One is a piston for a coaxial called the Mouse Musket and the other is a QDV style for the Marshmallow Cannon.
The rings are floating and do seal well.
The materials are HDPE and UMHWHDPE.
