Seal Around Cleanout Cap

So I'm using cleanout caps on my coaxial (3inch outter) for ease of changing out parts. It has a slight leak at 50ish PSI and then it starts whistling practically around 80.

Anyhow, what have you all used for sealing your cleanout caps decently?

teflon tape? ....... around the threads should work if thats where leak is

It still seems to be blasting through, I'll give it all another wrap.

yes, plumbers tape should do the trick. make sure you wrap it on with the threads and its tight on there

Most cleanout caps are not pressure rated and tend to change shape under pressure. If you can find the deeper socket schedule 40 pressure rated female adapter and schedule 40 pipe plug, they will do much better.

This 3 inch polypropylene pipe plug is rated to 125 PSI

Ok, I'll try reapplying the tape first. If that doesn't work, I might just look at rebuilding it out of metal or using those bigger fittings.

What color are you using? Use at least 6 wraps of tape.

Cleanout caps aren't really designed for pressure.
