I just got the 2 inch sprinkler valve from Ebay and it is huge. I was going to use it as a pilot valve for my next launcher; a diaphragm but I changed my mind. I thought of using it as a main valve but it looks like it would be a slow opener. Does anyone know how to determine the opening time?

I have no clue as to how to determine the opening time of it, but I'm sure it will open fast enough if you pilot it with another sprinkler valve. Just stick a 3/4" watermaster out of the top and you're good to go.

if you want to get the most power possible follow hubbs guide and make convert it to a piston, and like noname suggested, use a large piloet valve, anougher sprinkler might be a little exsesive though....

I never saw that gun, PVC Arsenal. Looks fantastic though! Like something DR would make really.

You could use a blow gun as your exhaust... I had great results on a 1 inch valve so a two inch=twice the flow should be sick

What are you talking about? A larger valve with a small exhaust is limiting performance. Why would it double?. No offense but you have no clue what you are talking about.
Yeah, it's that important.

ya, that would be half the flow, not double. i would have to agree with sandman on that one.

I never seen that launcher but that valve is simular to mine. As a matter of fact that launcher design is simular to my piston and what I had in mind for this valve. I would make it for tennis balls though. I'll have to decide which to do next; another pneumatic or combustion.

I've made a launcher using a 2" sprinkler valve and for a pilot valve I used a 1/4 ball valve and it worked a treat.I also tried a blowgun but it was lack luster in performance

Go with as large as you can, within reason.
