An ode to the 82nd Airborne:

"I shot my Bowtech at the sky,

Here is a home-made bowpress! My new 82nd Airborne by Bowtech delivers 333 feet per second with a 343 grain arrow! About 84.5 foot-pounds!

Any archers out there? Anyone got an Omen?!?

I have a fiberglass bow which I eventually got fairly good with, though lost interest in. As archery is one of the few legal shooting past times left in Australia I'm considering spending some of my (newfound) wages on a nice bow and some arrows.

You're using that expensive bow as an excercise machine? I'd be afraid of over compressing it and damaging it. Cool bow though.

I have a recurve Winstar II KAP Challenge Spirit with matching 36lb limbs. I use this every weekend, infact i was getting ready to go to archery when i popped on to SF for my morning fix and found this topic.
I want to get a compound bow sometime soon, anything you would recommend?

A few years back, when the Mach 8 was the top of the line for PSE,
I had two of them. A "pretty bow version Blue and Silver" and a "Camo version" for hunting.

They were both set up at 55 pounds and shot ACC arrows.
I was getting 295 feet per second on both. Not bad for that draw weight and the bow technology of that time frame.

Sold both for health reasons.

I really did enjoy both of them.

My favorite targets for indoor shooting at 20 yards was a 1/2 inch square piece of paper. Getting three out three arrows in that size target is very good practice to improve your shooting skills.

Try it some time. It will help you become much more consistent shooter!

That's not what the bowpress is for.

I used to be into archery, but the club I shot with was full of idiots who barely knew what the word "safety" meant. I've been meaning to get back into it but I really don't have the money to buy a decent bow right now.

JSR, that's awesome! 400+fps is QUICK! (...for an arrow...)
Here is my new home-made stabilizer made out of busted carbon-fibre arrows and some old bits of nylon/delrin.
Can anyone tell I'm a cheap-skate?
Why pay $130 for a great-looking brand new one when you can make one out of broken stuff that looks 1/10th as good!?!
...And on a COMPLETELY unrelated note, here is a spider that made me laugh because he was 'hiding' behind the clothes horse in the same way that a two year old 'hides' behind his finger... "You can't see me!!!"

Impressive bit of kit indeed, velocity is practically the same as what the Airrow achieves with rimfire blanks!
