Coaxial airsoft rifle design question
I want to make an airsoft rifle. I also want to use a coaxial design. I know the barrel needs to be a brake line, but does anyone have a suggestion on what to use as the outer chamber? Is there anything out there that someone has already used?

1/2 inch copper pipe. I have used it on multiple occasions. (in fact it is one of my current projects).
Just use epoxy to make your fittings, ect, or solder threaded peices on the end of the copper and use that instead.

Copper would be the easiest by far. It also looks great as it is very thin, clean looking and allows for a compact and stream-lined light-weight design, compared to something like the bulky galv. steel pipe and fittings which weigh a lot and have huge wall thicknesses.
But you can use anything really, I used pipe from a rudder for a small yacht once

I use aluminum for mine, machine fittings and use epoxy. Threaded solderable fittings can also be used.
Is this for a "shoot at people" airsoft gun or "shoot at random stuff".

If it's a "shoot at people" design, a coaxial setup is overkill, a multi shot blowgun setup would be a better idea.inonickname wrote:Is this for a "shoot at people" airsoft gun or "shoot at random stuff".

As you can see here, with decent pressure and a long enough barrel, using a blowgun directly as a trigger can happily put a lead pellet through a soup tin.
A coaxial of course has a faster valve and more power potential, but if you want to make something for skirmishing you're better off using a blowgun and fitting a magazine to get multiple shots, as opposed to the single shot you'd get from a coaxial.

One thing you'd lack, which is very important would be a hop up. Since the start of the barrel is inside the air chamber, there would be no way to use a hopup. You'd lose an incredible amount of range, and to make it up in power would be dangerous.
You could try one near the end of the barrel, but your results may not be desirable.
