Highest pressure on a hand-powered pump?

Cannons powered by pneumatic pressure (compressed gas) using a valve or other release.

No, I don't mean to imply that there is a maximum pressure one can reach with a hand-powered pump. If there is one it's insane.

The question I have for all of you is this: What is the highest pressure anyone on Spudfiles/you have achieved with a manually-powered pump?

240 bars. Around 3500 psi.

allthough a bloody scuba bottle is much handier if I say so myself...

Not quite the same pump (I think it was using a gehmann or FX pump but yeah..)

'tis quite a workout too..

Any idea what the diameter of the head on that pump is?

It looks to be around 20mm.

Seems very unlikely.

The 20mm pump I made is only good for about 40 bar, and most of that capacity is dependent on inertia.
In other words: At about 80 kilos, my weight is only strictly enough to get 24-25 bar out of it - getting the rest involves (in simple terms) jumping heavily on it.
Which is quite a good workout actually.

A pump of that pressure is only likely to have a 5 or 6 mm head diameter.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

6mm, just checked the diagram. Converting to inches... about .236" 1/8" Sch 40 NPT has an inner diameter of about .269". I may decide to add a third stage and actually push something near it's limits. 1/8" fittings are cheap too...

I have hit 180 psi with a normal bicycle hand pump with a 1.25 inch bore.

This was pumping up a relatively large tank. So, it took a while. :)

The highest I've gotten with a homemade pump is 900 psi (single stage 1/2" copper tube). It took awhile though since I think I had a dead space problem.
The highest with a 1.5"(?) bike pump was around 200psi. This is hard for me to believe since at the time I weighed about 135.
