I was wondering if those small rocket engines that you can build out of some simple materials are legal or not, because I can not find any legal information on them in Canada.

Im not shure if this is against form rules, but if it is just delete it.
Also I do not plan on firing any of them out of a potato cannon or using them as bombs.

i have read about those before. yes i think they are legal because i saw a popular science article about making a rocket engine out of potassium nitrate and a milky way. i dont think they would publish how to do something illegal in a national magazine. dont hold me to it though.

The formula is
63 KNO3
27 Sugar
10 Sulfur

Grind the individual ingredients to a fine powder state and sift together well. This formula is extremely hygroscopic. So keep it in an air tight container when not in use.

You better use a ball mill. The engine will burn much faster if you make a little chanel trough it's length.

Like what? NaNO3?
I wouldn't reccomend the above. It's more hydroscopic than KNO3, and will make your rockets get sticky even faster.

Yeh im from NSW, and sodium nitrate is fine for use with rockets thats what i was using half of the time and i dont leave then for any period of time so they dont collect moisture i usualy make them in the day and fire them at night for the cool glow in the sky.
