i am interested in making a portable very powerful gun to shoot ball bearings probly just small 6mm ball bearings. first i thought i would try make a spring piston gun but after looking through this site most people tend to avoid spring piston guns. i also want to steer away for combustion as it seems a bit dangerous and unreliable. i was thinking something with a small inbuilt stirrup pump with a very small air chamber. i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on the size air chamber i will need, the best trigger mechanism or just any ideas or opinions. i dont have access to any co2 cannisters or anything like that.

A lot of guys on here have built tiny coaxial cannons that would be in that size range, and could be made to power up with a compressor (or even a high pressure hand pump if need be). Check out some of the showcase forums.

Also, maybe get GGDT (Gas Gun Design Tools). Program will let you work out things like chamber size and such, based on the size/mass of your projectile, the muzzle velocity you want, et cetera.

If you've got a better barrel then I had, then yes. It was loads of fun and insanely simple.

Good man.

Not so if well built.

hehe that was just the launcher that came to mind :)

On a small side note, I hate to be a pedant ( ) but a criterium is a bike race.

You were thinking of criterion... though that's singular, so the correct word to use in this case is "criteria" ;)
