CHAT IS BACK! Temporary Spud Chat

That's right... a new chat room.

As you can see this is very basic and it does not integrate with the rest of SpudFiles (it does not automatically know your username) but it should work... at least for now.

We will see what kind of stress it puts on the server and hopefully we can keep this one online better than the last.

To use the chat, simply follow the new address above. I will update the address in the top menu soon as well. The chat will ask for your nickname, then you can start chatting. For those who are familiar with IRC, the available commands are similar. Please do not abuse these powers or I will be forced to limit or remove the chatroom.

Any questions or comments should be made in this thread.

Thank you. I'm actually surprised at the lack of discussion... unfortunately I think that happens to a lot of announcements I make however, since their not visible enough to users with the current SpudFiles design.

I don't think it's that people aren't seeing it, because I know the primary way I link into the forum itself is by using the search listing of new messages since last login. I think it is however that people have been saying what they would normally post on this thread in the chat itself. I know personally, as soon as I read your first post I just closed the thread and opened chat.

The bigger concern (at least for me) was to keep it in the recent threads list. I checked the unread posts, but when I left and came back, this was not there, so I had to go through the forum to find it. If it were to stay in the recent threads list, that would eliminate about 10 clicks from my mouse.

I did the same as saefroch, and opened chat to the "drama" which was going on last night.

But you must admit, the "drama" has decreased significantly of late, since a certain... administrative decision.

"Drama" got banned after ignoring repeated warnings to stop what he was doing. Otherwise the chat has been great fun so far.
