Just wondering whether an actuall PVC pipe is stronger than a pipe made out of couplings and small segments of PVC pipe. I always thought that the the plastic being melted together beceause of the solvent weld was stronger.
However I don't know, so if someone could elaborate on this please do.
Stronger Pipe? (or not)

The small gaps in the couplings would give it many weak spots. The PVC would simply shatter along those points specifically. Maybe, and I say maybe, you could do a 3" chamber covered in 3" couplings, sleeved inside 4" pipe. 3" fittings are said to fit very well in 4" pipe.
