Nothing original, it's basically how a washing machine or dishwasher solenoid valve works, the pilot volume is dumped through the barrel. Just a piece of mental flatulence, I doubt it would have any real benefit over a simple QDV.

Looks like it could be interesting, but it would probably require rather high tolerances to get the internal piston to re-seat inside the external when the external kicks back and opens.

Well you can try it out now with your new lathe  I think you would see a minor performance increase but not enough to make any considerable difference. :D I like your train of thought though. :)

heh that's not bad at all

if you increase the diameter of the middle piston you might be able to build a full auto gun

This is the same stock configuration of many sprinkler valves. This is done to prevent water spills while the valve is operating. Pressure in the discharge will provide back pressure on the pilot valve and reduce opening speed. With the outlet blocked the valve simply won't open as there is no pressure differential on the piston or diaphragm.

Most spudders opt for speed of opening instead of trying to save the vented pilot by dumping it in the barrel. A smaller pilot and small EQ greatly reduce the amount of air vented out the pilot during the shot.

You could just have a longer ported hollow section, so the small piston never stops being guided even when open.
