Hey, I'm new to the forums and I have a quick question. Theoretically could I use the same designs but different barrel sizes to make a tennis ball cannon?

I think you could, I have a golf ball cannon and just have interchangeable barrels, which one is a tennis ball barrel.I didn't change anything and still get great performance

Personally If I were you I'd shoot golf balls they go alot further!! =)

I think tennis balls are safer

I have a couple of launchers with a variety of screw on barrels. Tennis balls is one of the sizes.
