I know its harbor freight, but for the price it may be worth trying. I wish I knew about this when I had a hard time sealing a couple air tanks... I thought I would let you guys know, its on sale for $14.99 right now.

My question about it is, could one use the outlet to compress air?

that is not a pump... it's a venturi tube

Rotodynamic pumps (or dynamic pumps) are a type of velocity pump in which kinetic energy is added to the fluid by increasing the flow velocity.

Technically, the venturi tube increases the velocity of the fluid as it flows through the constricted section of pipe.

It is a pump, no question about it. It just uses compressed air to create a vacuum instead of a say an electric motor driving a piston.

The major limitation is that it is designed to only pump with the high pressure side fixed at atmospheric pressure. So it can't be used as a compressor. But since it is operated by a separate compressor that really isn't an issue.

Not really such a bad device. For $15 you can add vacuum capability to a shop compressor in a way that is easier than trying to plumb to the air inlet of the compressor.

Yeah, but its still kind of false advertising. They say its a "Pump" when there is no pump in it.
