I made some pellets with melted candle wax, as a die i used a short length of barrel around 3/4 inch long and 11mm ID plugged the bottom with a bit of tin foil and rammed so its a solid disk.. but it is just for a plug... i put in some bird shot pellets and filled with wax.

Question is ...should I consider some light lubrication for the barrel?

I have not tested them yet as it is 3.30am here...lol but they should work a treat and have a heavier impact than the SPUD i am using.

they would splat lol but as its wax it might have friction in the barrel or leave wax deposits, but the only way to find out is to shoot em

i made the exact same thing about 1 year ago. They actually hold together pretty well :D From the 3 or so shots I fired before it went SPAT on my wall  I didn't notice any deposits in my barrel.

Spray a little bit of WD-40 in the barrel, they'll make a brilliant seal and have very little friction. I put a little bit of vaseline inside the 4.5mm mould then cast hot glue in it for my 4.5mm coax. Blows straight through a newspaper at 200PSI.

Hmm... so basically you created the spudgun equivalent of the Glaser Safety Slug?

It's designed not to overpenetrate, you might want to consider something a little bigger than birdshot to cause some serious damage ;)

i'm an improvisor and just using crap i've got at hand.
the bird shot i used in the wax pellet was mainly for extra projectile weight.

Here's a thought, how about making some sabots and using the birdshot for an actual shotgun round ;)

For small calibres I find you can simply use foil like so.
