Ideas on a pistol grip styled exhaust valve.

I've been stuck on the design part for a new rifle I would like to make, and I can't figure out how to make a pistol grip styled exhaust valve. My first idea was to find a way to reroute the input of a regular pistol grip blowgun, and make it go in from the top, but that seems possibly too complex to bother. Does anyone have a better idea?

cut up a blowgun, flip it around, epoxy pipes in both ends and make a pistol grip around it.

As a trigger just a shaped peice of metal with a pivot point above the trigger.
