Hey,

that's my homemade airsoft silencer.
The steel wool absorbs the pressure wave of the gun.
Works pretty good, especially on loud guns;-)

Here's the Video i uploaded on my youtube channel with all description:

(more homemade (airsoft) things on my channel;-))

Nice effort, consider making it longer ie covering the full length of the barrel for best results.

I mean instead of having it as an attachment, you could think of having the whole barrel covered as a silencer.

Something like this: http://www.shootersdepot.com/aries.html

aaah...okay
yes.. but i think there would be a problem with the holes in the barrel. The barrel is 6mm, because the first 20cm at least would be used for accelerating. When i drill holes in the rest of the barrel, and it's 6mm, the holes could maybe "disturb" the bullet on it's way..

You don't have to drill holes in the barrel, extending the suppressor over it will give you more volume for the air to expand, making your suppressor more effective

As LnL said, volume makes all the difference, you don't need to port the barrel further.

Something like what I did for this: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/75sd-3- ... 22049.html

And here comes the partypooper..
I have removed the link to the video as it (the comments) is in violation of Spudfiles rules
:
Discussion of solid propellants, explosive devices or incendiary projectiles fired specifically from a spud cannon is prohibited, and may result in a permanent banning of your account.
Discussion of fireworks as projectiles is prohibited.

Good one jrrdw.. :D

I suggest removing the comment involved and re-uploading the vid.
Discussion of airsoft silencers is not prohibited, in fact:

That's what we do..

Nice work so far..

The steel wool it's useless for pneumatics. They are used in some firearms to absorb the heat from the hot exit gas to cause the gas to diminish the volum, consequently less noise. For pneumatics there's no such thing.

what steel wool does for a pneumatic is create turbulence which helps slow the gasses down, though this is a minor effect and you probably couldn't hear the difference with or without steel wool.

A couple baffles should do a better work.
