There have been a few comments lately expressing surprise at the level of paranoia about guns in Australia, and the consequent issues that I, Zeuus and others face with spudding or Airsoft etc.

This http://www.theage.com.au/national/assau ... 2d7jx.html is the lead story on the front page of the main broadsheet newspaper servicing both Sydney and Melbourne.

Shock & horror, a company is making a legal product and selling it to legal users. Somehow I don't think we are in too much danger but this is typical of the breathless hyperbole we get every time something like this is reported.

Yep, that's right if you could get a Cat-D licence (only 23 issued in a state population of 4,500,000) an AR-15 will cost you upwards of $9000. You will get visited by the local cops at least twice a year to check on you and don't even think about the issues involved with transport to get to a range or hunting area.

Might make it a little clearer for those outside this great and sunny land and why we tend to keep a very low profile.

This is old news by the way: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2012 ... -9000-usd/

I also note that 67% of the almost 18000 people that voted in the "Should semi-automatic weapons be allowed to be manufactured in Melbourne?" poll in the article voted "yes", up yours sensationalist media!
