Anyone try a PVC Rocket?

Boom! The classic potato gun harnesses the combustion of flammable vapor.

Found a how to on youtube to build a 3" motor and a Rocket using a foam pad and the top of a 2 liter pop bottle.

I built a couple a few weeks ago, tried smaller pop bottles inside and then the larger 2 liter outside. I kinda like the larger ones better. They dont go real high but its something different to shoot and have fun with.

The carbide is a little to powerful for it i have to use something else to push em with.

Nice, and fantastic paintjob as always!

Reminds me vaguely of this idea I had floated around.

Do we get to see a video?

Also, consider syringe fueling for much better performance!

Yea these are pretty cool but I like the water rockets better. Great for kids on a hot summer day.

I used HHO. I dont know what carbide's power is, but HHO is powerful enough and nice to work with......just an idea.

The gas from the carbide just burns to quickly and the foam doesnt hold up ripping the bottle off. The aerosol seems to burn slower giving more of a propulsion then an explosion. Aerosol is more quiet also

never tested rockets, just messing around with filling plastic bottels with Hydrogen and blow them up into the air ...like 10 m high.

You post this alot, ive seen you mention it several times since ive been on this forum but i dont seem to see anyone doing it this way but you. It doesnt seem as easy as it looks.

Your clear tube has all the perfect markings on it but how do you do it with PVC where you cant see threw the combustion chamber?

Do you have any video of it working in a painted spud gun?

That is how people that know how to do it right do it. :D
People that know how to do it right and have money use a more elaborate meter setup. :bounce:

It doesn't matter if the chamber is opaque or not. That "clear tube" is just for demonstration purposes (you could use a ruler as a ramrod in an opaque barrel if you want to do the same thing though that has nothing to do with syringe fueling). Syringe fueling is the part with the $1 plastic syringe (from a farm supply store). Figure that, on average, syringe (or meter) fueling increases the energy in the chamber by at least 25% and perhaps as much as 50%, and reduces miss-fires due to over or under fueling or to a wet spark gap to zero.

What do i search on yotube to see more demos of this method other then yours? If i search youtube for " Syringe fueling" the only 2 videos i see is yours.

I gotta have pictures

You mean this way of fueling is so rare there isnt even any videos? I mean if you search carbide cannons on youtube there are THOUSANDS of videos.

Ive watch a bunch of spudgun videos and ive yet to see anyone use a syringe or anything like this.

Here you go :)

It's all about the science. Does your car have a carefully calibrated fuel injector, or does it randomly spray enough fuel into the cylinder that "seems ok"? If you want the best performance, proper metering is the way to go ;)
