I have noticed that a golf ball fits perfectly in 1.5" EMT conduit from the electrical section of a hardware store. You can use an EMT Compression fitting to get 1.5" male pipe threads. EMT conduit has been proven very reliable and can even be used on a hybrid cannon as a barrel.

Make sure all of your parts say NSF-pw on them, especially the 4 and 3 ones. Usually people go for cheaper fittings, and not better quality ones....
