My first cannon. Very simple.

Boom! The classic potato gun harnesses the combustion of flammable vapor.

Hey guys, this is my first attempt at building a tater cannon. It has a 3' wide by 16' chamber and a 2' by 36' barrel - all made with SCH 40 PVC. Loads from the top. Uses a simple 12$ BBQ igniter that breaks every 50 or so shots. Uses axe body spray as fuel. I don't have any pictures, but I have a slick video my friend and I made of us shooting it off. It impresses our buddies, but after seeing the stuff you guys made and posted on this site, I don't think it will impress you :-). But its my first gun, and personally I'm proud that it works as well as it does. This thing has to be shooting several hundred feet at least, although the video doesn't show that quite well. I call it the "Alpha" model. The next one i'm planning on making is going to use a stun gun for ignition and be breech loading. Keeping it simple, but moving up to newer things in small steps. I eventually want to get into using propane, but not until i make a few more guns and learn more about the hobby.
