I am going to buy a 3/4" QEV and need to have a safty ballvalve in front of it, I was thinking if the flow of the QEV is 7.81Cv and the flow of a 1/2" Ballvalve is 8.053Cv then will I need a 3/4" Ballvalve safty or will it make no difference if I used a 1/2" Ballvalve?

Depends on which ballvalve you get; alot of those 1/2" ballvalves don't have .5" porting. I'd go with the 3/4" ballvalve just so you don't have to buy a bushing.
