depends on how loud it is my friend can hear my big cannon 1/3 mile away

It depends. With a dry fire,my friend has heared my cannon a half mile away (on a day where the sound carrys and the air is still )

when i tried i used a tater and the wind was blowing away from his house, i might have to buy a decible meter, how much does it cost??

The sound a cannon makes has nothing to do with determining the maximum distance.

there probaly is no max. if conditions are right and its really loud coul be heard miles away. but that would have to be realy loud.

My gun is a combustion. The chamber is 14" inches long I believe, of 4" ABS pipe. The barrel is 4' long of 2" pipe.

You could make your barrel longer to quieten it, also it would increase performance.
If your getting chased off a police dog, try not to run through a tunnel then onto a small see-saw then through a ring of fire. They are trained for that!

make a "silencer" for it, just drill some holes at the end of the barrel, as long as you projectile it a perfect fit it should really quiet it down
