SBC-500
The SBC-500
( SuperBall Cannon 500ft/s)
This is probably my favorite cannon i have ever built. silent, powerful, bolt action, simple and effective. It took me about 2 weeks to finsh (only had like an hour to work a day on it because i had work) and it took me a week to paint it.
The chamber is conctructed out of 3" diameter pvc sch 40 pipe and is about 14" long (98 cubic inchs) and I use a schrader valve to fill the chamber. I used a modded sprinkler which had a threaded 1" inlet/outlet. (I think it was a rain bird). The barrel is 1.5" diameter sch 40 pve pipe and is about 22 inches long (38.8 cubic inchs). That gives me a C:B ratio of about 2.5 to 1. The bolt is a piece of 1" sch40 pvc pipe which I then had to rap with this 8mm think tape so it would fit almost pefectly in the barrel. I used a 1/4 inch bolt to make the handle for the bolt and a dremel to cut the slot in the barrel for the handle.
The orignal ammo was superballs, but after almost being killed in my garage by a ricoche and then later being shot with one at close range(alcohol was the priamry factor in that decision) I begin to look for other ammo. My friend and I found that bbs worked well (with paper as wadding), but the fun of blowing a cardbored boxes to pieces soon wore off. we then put bolts in the cannon, and these could easily peice a 1/4 peice of plywood and my garage door (that was an expensice mistake). Finnaly I put a 1/2 steel rod I had liying around in the cannon, and this was able to pierce a piece of 1/2 inch pywood from about 25 feet away.
here are some pics of SBC-500

It looks nice but you sure have a lot of dead space, it would get a very good increase in power if you move the valve closer to the barrel. Nice paint to, I like matte over gloss anyday.

Whoever cannot take care of themself without that law is both.

yeah i know theres a lot of dead space, i kinda glued the stock upside down cause i wasn't paying attention and was to cheap to go homedepot to get new parts, it still really powerful and looks good so i dont have any problems with it.SquishY wrote:It looks nice but you sure have a lot of dead space, it would get a very good increase in power if you move the valve closer to the barrel. also the superballs are just slightly smaller then the barrel( 1or 2 mm smaller), and are about the same diameter as the outer diameter of 1" pvc pipe. You can buy many different size superballs, 1" just seems to be the most common.

don't be an a**hole. why do you feel the need to put others down? do you feel bad about yourself, and want to make yourself "superior"?
I think you aer jealous because it is such a nice cannon, and you have not built anything near this cool.
so shut the f*** up, and say nice things, If anything at all.
