Well, I'm needed a valve for a new cannon. A sprinkler valve doesn't have enough flow, and a piston valve is too bulky, and not low profile. So, I modded the $hit out of a sprinkler.

very nice job, however, it seems that the new diaphragm is in a different place(lower down) than the original, so how exactly does it work?

is the metal peice on the new diaphragm a coin?

It is lower down, which means it moves up, allowing an assload more air through at once. It's like a really high flow QEV, except 8 bucks cheaper and inline.
The metal piece is indeed a coin, a token to be exact. It's thick steel and fit right into the spring, so I used it.

It a really complex process of unscrewing the top and ( make sure you dont loose the screws) taking it off.

lukemc, use a fine file to file it down to about half the original width.
mopherman, where the solenoid was, there is a circle of rubber. Peel it up, then peull hard to get the diaphragm out.

I forgot to mention this:
To anyone who is using this mod, the first time I tried a valve like this, it leaked like hell out the sides. All you need is an O-ring to fit into the circular groove that the diaphragm's edge was set into.

I dont see how a modded blowgun can allow more airflow than a sprinkler valve. The opening on a blowgun isnt but like 1/4". you can get a 1" sprinkler valve and mod it.
