R/C Car with remotly actuated Cloud BBMG

I once had a RC car that would take my Cloud BBMG and a homemade tank quite nicley. It would be a great project if there were a Remote or electricly actuated valve for a BBMG. If there exists such a thing, the possibilties could be endless. Just imagine, a BBMG mouted on a RC helicopter. Or a mini spud on a RC car. Or those RC robots they have now, give it real shoulder cannons. If anyone knows of such a valve, tell me!

i dont know how you could remote actuate a solenoid valve, but i'm sure i'd be possible

... Someone has been modifing too many sprinkler valves: they are MADE for electric actuation. All you have to do is use they circitry that would activate the old feature, and use it to operate a seperate power system via a relay. Done.

yes, well, solenoid valves stay open til there is no more pressure, i want a valve such as a blowgun, this is a BBMG, not a spudgun, if you dont know what one is, go to the BBMG forum, very enlightening...and I've never modded a Sprinkler valve, its cheaper to just keep it the same, and it takes less space.

Not true. I know of at least 1 cannon that releases the airflow in pulses, so that you can fire multiple shots. It was some sort of full-auto marble gun. I think he got like a dozen shots at 40 psi - pretty good for his chamber volume and projectile size. Anyway, I'm too lazy to search & link...

A cloud is a type of bbmg. Get your terminology strait.

Ah, i fixed my terminology mistake there. and for that marble gun, id like to see that valve of his, I have the standard, 'orbit watermaster' valve, not a fancy pantsy one.

well if your car has a feature like lights or sounds on the remote or something like that, than make sure its 24 volts, and then hook the posotive and negative up. also, makes sure you want that valve staying open, because once you turn on the "lights" (or valve in exchange), the valve or lights will stay on.

Darkerweb12, the valve in that auto WAS a normal sprinkler valve. The pants were not fancy at at all.

There are plenty of 1/4" of 3/8" solenoid valves. Look around online.

Ok, well, lets just say that remotely activating stuff is *really* easy, try going here.
You will find everything you need to remotely activate stuff, and some other cool stuff you don't really need for your project.



Edit: Ok, so that was a little broad, you can simply activate stuff by using servos. You can buy a controller and reciever that you would use for an rc car for about 20 bucks. A small battery pack about 2x1/4 inches can power the reciever, and that would be all you need. Ex: You have a bbmg, and you use a servo motor to depress the blowgun handle (or whatever you valve may be) You can also get into microcontrollers...
Anyway, this site has just about all you will ever need.

Ebay has all kinds of remote controlled stuff for good prices. Thats where i got all the stuff for my glider, i like to buy lot boxes with 1 or 2 things i'm looking for and then resell what i don't want. The only thing i really pay for is glue/wing covering/epoxy and wood. I probly have $30.00 to $40.00 dollars into a $500.00 dollar glider set up, i'm very proud of myself for that, it takes time to get it that way, but it works!

ammo you don't have a vex robot do you? I just created a robotics team at my school and the first competition is useing vex robot, before we go to full scale.

if anyone else builds robots it'd be cool to have a dedicated thread for 'em.

Actually, I am in a robotics class, but not on a team. We will be starting on vex robots in a couple weeks I think.
