Pulse Gun

If anybody here knows anything about jet engines, help me out here.
I was wonderig if it would be possible to make an airsoft gun based off the design of a pulse jet engine (valved).
I could have a fan or blowgun pointed the intake to help the speed of refueling, and the added momentum of the BB might help open the intake valves.

Pulsejets, though very cool, are extremely inefficient. They're fuel hogs, they're difficult to get started, and they don't produce as much thrust as comparable engine designs.
I would advise you not to try to make a pulsejet-powered-spudgun. But if you want to mount a small pulsejet on a gocart, have at it....

that sounds like it could work with the right hands at work. it would probably be one of those guns that you hide in a bunker to shoot.

what exactly do you plan on shooting? are u going to point it at the ground and take off

uhhh it would be an extremely small pulse jet and i really don't think it would be worth it. at all. i have recently been studying up on rocket engines, particularly pulse jet engines.

i highly advise you don't use a pulse jet engine for a cannon.

Remeber Rambo's auto combustion? I'm thinking that's what you should be going for. It basically works on the same principle as a valveless pulsejet, only at a very low frequency.

I really wonder if such a cannon would be more energy efficient than a pneumatic design. We should build more of them and tweak the design while we're at it, 'cause it sounds pretty good for small projectiles.

Yeah, pulse jets are generally large and they get to extreme temps. You would melt your barrel, or if its copper it'd likely melt the solder. Anyways, ummm, if you were to be shooting regular plastic airsoft pellets it would melt them. Whatever, good luck with your quest towards third degree burns. Spud
